Rhinoplasty Risks and Complications

Nose Cosmetic Surgery content:

Knowing it's a surgery, chances of suffering any risk or complication is pretty poor. Most of the side effects are temporary. Some of them are inevitable, but short-lasting. Beauty requires sacrifice, though not that huge.

Side effects of nose plastic surgery

These are temporary or supposed problems. Most of them are usual and, if you're considering surgery, you should at least get ready for these experiences.

  • Bleeding   (up to a month);
  • Swelling;
  • Pain;
  • Inability to breath;
  • Discoloration, bruises, redness;
  • Loss of smell;
  • Numbness;
  • Skin irregularities;
  • Slow healing   (smoking slows healing very intensively);
  • Visible scar   (if bone needs taken from rib or hip);

Nose Job Complications

These problems are not supposed to happen. Surgeons are ready for any accident, which might occur during surgery or even long time after it. Most of them are fixable through shorter or longer time period, others might stay forever. Don't be afraid, percentage of complex complications is very low.

  • Here is the list of possible rhinoplasty complications:
  • Visible scar;
  • Wound Infection;
  • Anesthesia reaction;
  • Bad nose reshaping result   (surgeon's mistake or client did not follow instructions);
  • Asymmetry after surgery;
  • Burst blood vessels   (small red spots, sometimes permanent, might appear on nose skin);
  • Permanent discoloration;
  • Extrusion (implants might go out);
  • Permanent loss of smell;
  • Loss of structural support;
  • Damage to nerve;
  • Permanent numbness;
  • Reactions to medications;
  • Skin irregularities;
  • Skin death;
  • Toxic Shock Syndrome (very rare, ~1.7 deaths out of 100.000 surgeries)

Mistakes are made by very experienced and less experienced plastic surgeons. Of course, the more experience one has, the less chance there is to experience side effects or complications. Even though nowadays nose plastic surgeries has little chance of accidents, you should ask yourself: 'Am I ready to withstand side effects and possible complications?'.
